The shopping center in Südstadt serves as a temporary alternative location during the demolition and reconstruction of the existing building. A modern container complex was built for this transitional solution, featuring numerous innovative and functional characteristics.
Built in 2019 in Vienna’s Südstadt, the container complex comprises a total of 66 office containers and 2 sanitary containers. A central highlight of the facility is the 5-meter-wide corridor, which is equipped with glass fronts and creates a bright and inviting atmosphere. The specially developed roof construction ensures optimal lighting for the retail spaces and creates a pleasant shopping experience.
Additionally, a custom steel structure was integrated to provide extra stability. The floor was specially reinforced to allow for the installation of safes and ATMs, which is particularly beneficial for the banks and financial service providers located in the shopping center. Access ramps ensure barrier-free accessibility and facilitate access for all visitors.
The container complex offers versatile space solutions, including both retail spaces and sanitary facilities. The retail spaces are designed to be flexibly adapted to the needs of individual retailers. The sanitary facilities are modern and comfortably equipped to meet the high expectations of visitors.
Through the clever use of container modules, a functional yet appealing shopping center was created that optimally bridges the transitional period and offers customers a pleasant shopping experience.

The roof construction of the container complex in the Südstadt SCS Passage is characterized by its stable wooden beam structure, which was specifically developed for the requirements of a shopping center. The use of wood as the primary material gives the facility a warm and inviting atmosphere, while strategically placed transparent panels provide natural lighting for the interior spaces.
In addition, custom-made steel components provide extra stability and security. These steel parts are reinforced to meet the demands of a high-traffic shopping center and also serve as attachment points for the transparent panels and lighting elements. The skillful combination of wood, steel, and glass in the roof construction blends innovative architecture with practical solutions to create a pleasant and functional environment for visitors and operators.
