Temporary Modular Infrastructure for Broadcast, Coordination and Operations

or the Eurovision Song Contest, an extensive temporary infrastructure was required around the Wiener Stadthalle that had to be delivered within a tight timeframe and function reliably throughout setup and event operations. To meet these demands, CHV supplied more than 100 containers, which were integrated into the TV compound as a multi-part modular support structure forming the spatial backbone for key operational processes surrounding the production.

The project primarily involved large, predominantly two-storey rental container setups with external staircases and clearly organised access zones. This created compact and efficient work and support areas that could be used flexibly for coordination, production-related functions, technical operations, storage and service support. At an event of this scale, short internal distances, clear structures and dependable temporary facilities are essential to ensure that multiple teams can work in parallel under significant time pressure.

The project shows that modular container solutions in the event and media sector offer far more than simple overflow space. They create a reliable operational framework for time-sensitive processes and can be tailored precisely to the logistical and functional requirements of a demanding venue.

More Than 100 Containers as Scalable Event Infrastructure

A project of this scale requires more than just a high number of units. What matters is a coherent overall concept that turns individual rental containers into a functioning support environment capable of meeting both the logistical constraints of the site and the operational demands of an international live production. That is exactly where the strength of this project lies.

Thanks to their modular design, the individual units could be arranged according to operational needs and combined into clearly structured functional areas. The two-storey layout made it possible to create substantial usable space on a comparatively compact footprint while keeping essential circulation and working areas open across the site. This provided ORF and the EBU with a temporary support infrastructure that was professionally organised, quick to implement and designed for intensive event use.

The project at the Wiener Stadthalle highlights CHV’s capability in delivering large-scale modular infrastructure for time-critical assignments. From delivery and installation through to the completed operational setup, the result was a temporary space solution designed to meet the demands of an international broadcast and event environment.
