Container Sizes & Designs

Containers are available in various standard sizes and designs – depending on use, location, and equipment. Here we show the most common dimensions (e.g., 10/20/40 ft), modular space units, and multi-story system solutions – as a guide for planning, logistics, and budgeting.

On this page, we use the term “container” to refer to both ISO shipping containers and space modules (e.g., office, sanitary, or technical containers) as well as combined container systems.

Container Types & Applications

Whether office, storage, sanitary, shipping container, or special solutions: container types differ primarily in construction, insulation, connections, and equipment. Choose the appropriate type according to the area of application – and combine several modules into one system if required.

Special Container Sizes & Customizations

If standard dimensions do not fit, we implement individual conversions and custom-made designs – e.g., additional openings, technical installations, special insulation, or project-specific interior fittings. Here you can see examples of how customers have transformed containers for their purposes.

Used Containers: Budget-Friendly & Immediately Ready for Use

Used containers are the cost-effective and sustainable alternative. All units are professionally inspected and refurbished. Upon request, we can check buy-back or reuse options after the end of the project.

Frequently Asked Questions

For ISO shipping containers, 10ft, 20ft, 40ft (and High Cube as required) are particularly common. They are standardized worldwide and are therefore particularly easy to plan – for transport, storage, and conversions.

For office and space modules, medium lengths are particularly practical because transport, structural analysis, and combination remain simpler. Common modules are, for example, 16, 24, or 30 feet (depending on the system). Very long units are often planned as special solutions.

ISO containers are standard 8 feet wide (approx. 2.44 m). This facilitates transport and combination into systems because dimensions and connection points remain predictable.

Yes – multi-story systems are possible. Decisive factors include stability, structural analysis, access (stairs/platforms), fire protection and the specific use. For larger systems, the design is usually planned on a project-specific basis.

For “critical applications,” reefers (refrigerated containers), technical containers (e.g., with electrical/air conditioning/network expansion), or safety/hazardous material solutions (e.g., collection trays, ventilation, access control) may be considered depending on the application. The equipment is based on standards, risk, and operational requirements.

The typical process is: clarify requirements → determine layout/sizes → define equipment/connections → plan transport & setup → assembly/commissioning. The clearer the use, duration, and site conditions are, the faster the process will be completed.
